Better equipped in fighting fraud against EU funds at national and European level

The general objective of the project is to support the Romanian efforts in fighting against fraud and corruption detrimental to the financial interests of the EU by consolidating the operational and technical capacity of the National Anticorruption Directorate. To reach this objective and building on previous projects having as beneficiary the National Anticorruption Directorate, co-financed by OLAF under the HERCULE III Technical Assistance and Training Programmes, this project aims to provide technical and operational support for the DNA’s activity, in particular contributing to higher quality and efficiency of investigations through the acquisition of specialized equipment including an accompanying training component on the use in the direct benefit of the Support Unit for the European Delegated Prosecutors in Romania that was established since 2021 within DNA and respectively, in the direct benefit of the Technical Service within DNA. The project will address the general objectives of the call: „The EUAF Programme pursues the general objective to protect the EU financial interests. This will be carried out through the activities foreseen in the EUAF-2022-TA-01 — Investigation and surveillance equipment and methods. In the short to medium term, this project will contribute to: a) building of the technical capacity of DNA in order to better perform surveillance operations in the cases of frauds against the EU funds investigated by the DNAs prosecutors and b) providing operational and investigative support to the European Delegated Prosecutors in Romania In a medium, to long term results, the project will contribute to increased quality and quantum of evidence leading to increased quality and efficiency of investigations regarding fraud and corruption detrimental to the financial interests of the EU carried out by the DNA and by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
