Better protection of EU financial interests by improving the DNA’s investigative capacity through surveillance equipment and know-how

The current project proposal builds on the previous projects financed through the HERCULE TA Programme aiming to further consolidate the technical capacity of the Technical Service within the DNA. The general objective of the project is to improve the fight against fraud and corruption detrimental to the financial interests of the EU, by enhancing the technical endowment of the National Anticorruption Directorate. The project will address this objective by carrying out activities foreseen for EUAF-2021-TA-01 – Investigation and surveillance equipment and method: purchase and maintenance of investigation and surveillance equipment and methods used by beneficiaries in the fight against irregularities, fraud and corruption detrimental to the EU financial interests; specialized training to enable staff to operate these tools has to be planned as part of the action. Thus, the specific objective of the project is to address the current needs of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in investigating frauds committed against EU financial interests, by covering the gap identified regarding the accessing of IT systems. To reach this specific objective, the technical endowment of the Technical Service within DNA will be improved by acquiring an electronic system for investigation designed for cyber stealth surveillance, complementary training for the police officers using it, as well as maintenance and support services.
