Description
Description | IFC is considering subscribing to a green/sustainability-linked bond of up to US$200 million issued by B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (the “Company” or “BGrimm”). IFC’s proposed investment is expected to finance the acquisition, development and construction of renewable energy (RE) projects (wind, solar, storage, hybrids etc.) in the South East Asia region potentially in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam and/or other countries (“Project”). The projects to be financed using IFC proceeds have yet to be identified. The projects will be selected such that they have limited environmental and social (“E&S”) impacts and are in compliance with IFC Performance Standards (PS). Founded in 1993, BGrimm is the energy investment arm of the conglomerate B.GRIMM, that has businesses across energy, industrial system, healthcare, and transportation. BGrimm is one of the Small Power Producers (SPPs) in Thailand with 53 power plants in operation (SPPs, VSPP, others) and 19 power plants in construction or development. The company’s total operating and under-construction portfolio is approximately 3,500 MW of mainly gas-fired power plants and includes also solar, hydro, wind, hybrid and industrial waste based power plants mostly in Thailand, with some limited presence in: Lao PDR (35 MW of wind based power in operation and 98 MW of hydro based power under development), Cambodia (39 MW of solar based power in operation), Vietnam (497 MW of solar based power in operation and 48 MW of wind based power under development), Poland (14 MW of wind based power under development), and Malaysia (88 MW of solar based power under development). Typically, each project is a subsidiary or joint venture company (project company) under BGrimm. The projects to be funded with IFC proceeds will be wholly or majority owned subsidiaries of the company. |
