This project includes the creation, upgradation, operation and maintenance, and utilisation of broadband network in 16 states of India. The scope of works involves the commissioning of existing or deploy new network Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) network (underground and aerial), radio network or any alternate medium (where fibre laying is not feasible), along with electronics infrastructure including Network Operation Centre (NOC). The network will provide at least 1 Gbps bandwidth at each village and minimum 1 Gbps bandwidth scalable up to 10 Gbps at GPs and villages with a population greater than 1,000.The project is divided into the following nine packages :Package 1: States of Kerala, KarnatakaPackage 2: Uttar Pradesh EastPackage 3: Uttar Pradesh WestPackage 4: RajasthanPackage 5: Punjab, Haryana, Himachal PradeshPackage 6: West BengalPackage 7: North East - I (Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya) and North East - II (Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland)Package 8: AssamPackage 9: Madhya Pradesh
