Built at a cost of Rs 30.6 crore, ($6.5m) the 18 MW Shivapur hydel power was completed in 26 months. Close on the heels of the Shivapur Plant's success, BPCL was allotted a string of mini hydel power projects, with a total installed capacity of 6.6 MW, at Shahapur in Gulbarga district of Karnataka. The Shahapur schemes were executed between 1995 and 1998. Rajankollur Mini Hydel Scheme is a 2 MW power station located on the Hunsagi branch canal. This is a distributor of Narayanpur left bank canal flowing in Gulbarga district, Karnataka. Work on the project started in March 1998.
