Description | The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project was an ambitious metro rail network intended to connect the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Initially planned as an elevated metro corridor between city airport and Trishulia with 16 stations, the plan was later revised to extend to Cuttack and to execute an underground metro network instead of an elevated one. Construction had started in parts of Bhubaneswar but was stopped suddenly. The project has been put on hold by the state government to assess technical details and expected low ridership, with an inter-ministerial committee formed to decide the future course. |
