The project involves the development of a 400 kV Bikaner Sikar D/C Power Transmission Line for evacuation of power from wind and solar power in Rajasthan. The total length of the transmission line is 172 km. The concessionaire of the project is KEC International Ltd. (part of RPG Group). This is a greenfield project initiated under a Design - Build - Finance - Operate and Transfer modality with a concession period of 45 years. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process with the bid criteria being the lowest subsidy required (grant) - Rs. 28.8 crore. The concessionaire has signed transmission fee agreement with the state government. Investment for the construction of the transmission line is estimated to be Rs. 260 crore ($38.85 million) and is being funded via 70 per cent debt and 30 per cent equity contribution, including Viability gap funding. Hence, the sponsor, KEC International, will provide $7.35 million to the project. Financial closure took place on March 24th, 2016 and Appointed date on May 3rd, 2016.
