The state cabinet approved changes in the procedures for implementing projects under the BGBO scheme, a rural development programme by the panchayati raj and drinking water department. The revised framework allows need-based project proposals from panchayati raj members, elected representatives, and civil society groups through public notices at various government offices and district web portals. A district-level committee chaired by the collector will examine proposals, and the collector will sanction the final list of approved projects. A mandatory three-year defect liability period has been introduced for projects costing more than Rs 10 lakh. The updated procedures will be effective from 2025-26.
