The Village of St-Isidore, located in northeastern New Brunswick on the Acadian Peninsula, has its roots in farming. Its long strips of land and its fields are reminders of the farms that used to line the main road. Over time, agriculture has been gradually replaced by residential development and recreational production of maple products. St-Isidore’s residents love the outdoors, nature and walking trails; the Village has 1,200 m of sidewalks along Des Fondateurs boulevard and a wooded park with paths through it. St-Isidore is also the gateway to the Acadian Peninsula cycle route, a 610-km network of bike paths that covers the entire peninsula. In St-Isidore itself, the bike path is shared with the road, Des Fondateurs boulevard, over a distance of 6 km, and unfortunately, it is not well-identified. Our project has two parts: (1) make our portion of the Acadian Peninsula cycle route safer and easier to find, and (2) extend the sidewalks over a distance of 750 m so that pedestrians can walk from the easternmost subdivisions to the centre of the village.
