The proposed Project is to invest in and manage a portfolio of avoided deforestation projects (REDD) across the world. Individual project development is most advanced in Indonesia where the combination of a favorable legislative environment and the availability of potentially suitable sites have created a favorable environment for investment in such projects. BioCarbon has an identified pipeline of project sites in Indonesia, Cambodia, Ecuador and Peru, with two in West Kalimantan, Indonesia being the most advanced. BioCarbon establishes technical partnerships with internationally recognized conservation organizations to identify, develop and manage individual project sites. For example, the agreement between the Project and FFI involves the following division of responsibilities: BioCarbon: provision of capital and financial services; compliance with carbon standards and marketing and sales of credit globally FFI: expertise in biodiversity management, assessment and monitoring; carbon science, (measurement and compliance with standards) and design of social, economic and governance frameworks for community benefits.
