Biochar Plant

Myno Carbon Corp., a start-up company, is planning to construct a biochar plant at Avista Utilities’ Kettle Falls Biomass Generating Station site in Kettle Falls. The project scope includes design and construction of a building and purchase and installation of wood waste handling, screening, grinding, drying systems, pyrolysis reactors, a steam boiler, and biochar packaging and loadout equipment. The plant will have the capacity to process 183,000 tons of timber waste per year to produce 40,000 tons of biochar per year and provide 18 MW of steam to Avista’s plant. A construction schedule will be developed following permitting approvals; the plant is expected to be completed in mid-2025.
