Description
Description | This project will fund five individual projects with the aim of improving the management and conservation of natural resources and biodiversity in accordance with the principles and standards of sustainability. The FC measure is intended to help ensure that the principles of international conventions and agreements on the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural resources are given greater consideration and application in the People's Republic of China. The individual projects will be proposed by the Chinese side and then subjected to an internal KfW review, during which the exact level of ambition of the individual projects will be determined taking into account the specific starting situation. The financing consists of classic joint financing of up to EUR 55 million in total and a grant (A+F) of EUR 940,236.85 for the partial financing of consulting services (reprogrammed VE). Five projects have been proposed by the Chinese side and examined by KfW: 1) Preservation of biodiversity in wetlands in Fujin, Heilongjiang Province (EUR 8 million), examined in 2012 and project started in April 2013; 2) Desertification control & biodiversity protection in Yulin, Shaanxi Province (EUR 10 million), examined in 2012 and project started in April 2013; 3) Tianzhu Mountain project to protect biodiversity, Anhui Province (EUR 15 million), examined in August 2013; 4) Sustainable forest management in Chaoyang, Liaoning Province (EUR 10 million), examined in September 2013 and project started in March 2015; 5) Protection and management of Hengshui Lake, Hebei Province (EUR 12 million), examined in July 2014. The program is now fully funded. All five individual projects will introduce model methods for the sustainable management of natural resources in China. The programme contributes to global climate protection (mitigation and adaptation), combating desertification and preserving biodiversity. |
