Description

Description

The aim of the second phase of the Sustainable Resource Management project is to create the conditions for sustainable management of the supported protected areas, thereby contributing to achieving the DC program objective of protecting biodiversity and sustainably managing the tropical forest, as well as improving the economic situation of the poor local population. The primary target group of German DC involvement is the population living in and around the protected areas, who predominantly live in poverty and use natural resources to make a living. The measures are carried out in the individual protected areas depending on the respective level of preparation and development potential and, in a participatory approach, include improving protection, the living conditions of the neighboring population, promoting tourism, and monitoring. With total costs of around EUR 50 million, the financial contribution from this FC module amounts to EUR 20 million.
