Description

Description

The aim of the project is to continue the successes of an IKI project in its final phase and to deepen its impact, as well as to expand it to include new elements such as control of illegal wildlife trade and biodiversity offsets in order to support an institutionally anchored regional turnaround against natural forest degradation and loss of biodiversity through illegal logging, poaching, agricultural use and large-scale infrastructure projects. Successfully tested models from the existing IKI project for the protection of biological priority areas and the renaturation of degraded areas will be multiplied and combined with new approaches to prevent and compensate for biodiversity loss and will contribute to the preservation of the biodiversity of the Central Annamites. A key focus is on the implementation of measures that counteract cross-border leakage effects (illegal timber trade, poaching).
