Description
Description | The BioSus project is organised as an Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) proposal for a future Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) meeting some EU main concerns. Among them, the increase of participating institutions to change given emerging needs (the green economy) by growing their competencies through implementing a best practice system. The main objective of the BioSus project is to develop a new, innovative, high-level, integrated global master program which meets the requirements for the present and future Bioeconomy and qualifies graduates to develop transition needs. BioSus also seeks to: increase the internationalization of the participating institutions, improve transparency between the educational systems of the institutions' partner countries, to increase the interest of non-European students in the educational program. The proposal of this Design Measures project should therefore lay the groundwork for the implementation of an EMJM that will enable students participating in the future programme to, among other things, carry out research towards selecting and improving appropriate feedstock; sustainably producing feedstock; researching conversion of the feedstock to biofuels, biobased materials, and value-added co-products; and in developing techno-economic and sustainability models to evaluate paths to commercialisation and socioeconomic impacts. Students completing the program will seek employment in public or private research organisations that conduct research in these fields; private companies; governmental agencies; and anthropogenic environmental and societal non-profit organisations. Student-tailored and student-centred science training will be completed by integrating course components, including management, economics, business practices, and law. BioSus is based on a strong partnership established as the “Global Bioeconomy Alliance” of three top universities leading in the field of bioeconomy, TUM - Germany, UQ - Australia, and UNESP, Brazil. |
