Description

Description

The Biomedical Alliance in Europe (BioMed Alliance) is a non-profit organisation representing 34 European health research and medical societies uniting more than 400,000 researchers and healthcare professionals. Our community of clinicians and researchers from a wide range of medical specialties work together to provide a single voice on transdisciplinary subjects in order to bridge the gap between medical practice and research and horizontal policy and regulatory decisions. Our overall aim is to strengthen scientific, evidence-based considerations and clinical expertise in the decision-making process at EU level. The increasing recourse to multi-stakeholder for a both prior to legislative decisions and during the implementation phases has been an opportunity for increasing involvement by Biomed Alliance’s experts. This in turn has led to a need for appropriate advocacy training and support for our, non-conflicted, experts. Within EXHALE, BioMed Alliance would focus on capacity building for medical experts, thus ensuring that appropriate expertise is shared with legislators, thereby facilitating networking and cooperation. We focus on EU4Health priorities including: strengthening primary and secondary sharing and use of health data for healthcare and research, the implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation, the In Vitro Diagnostics Regulation, and the Health Technology Assessment Regulation. EXHALE aims to bridge the gap between clinical practice and decision making at EU level by strengthen inclusion of evidence-based approaches during multi-stakeholder phases of development. EXHALE support would allow us to set-up and pilot appropriate training for our medical specialist community in order to provide optimal advocacy support across a wide range of medical issues during the design of the European Health space.
