Description

Description

This project consists of the rehabilitation and expansion of a wastewater treatment facility that services a subdivision in the village of Hanwell, New Brunswick. Although the existing wastewater treatment facility’s treated effluent currently meets all standards, there are numerous upgrades that are required to avoid future mechanical failure, address safety and electrical concerns, and prevent / minimize impacts from the weather. The scope of the project includes: • a full replacement of the existing rotating biological contractor module; • excavation and backfilling; • construction of a heated vestibule / controls room addition; • insulating existing concrete enclosure to reduce condensation; • upgrading and relocating electrical controls and replacing interior electrical wiring; and, • installation of hazardous gas monitoring equipment. The project aims to upgrade and expand the subdivision’s wastewater treatment facility to prevent a near-term mechanical failure that could release untreated wastewater into the environment. The project will benefit the community by maintaining capacity to treat and manage its wastewater, as well as ensuring wastewater effluent standards continue to be reliably met.
