Description

Description

Project Agora is a prototype developed by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) that demonstrates tokenized central bank reserves and commercial bank deposits can settle wholesale cross-border payments in seconds across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. The project integrates tokenized commercial bank deposits and tokenized central bank reserves on a single programmable platform, enabling atomic, multi-currency settlement with finality and security across seven jurisdictions. The project is moving from simulation to real-value testing with the participation of the Bank of Canada and other private sector entities.
