Description | Bishoftu International Airport is a $12.5 billion mega airport project in Ethiopia, set to become Africa's largest and a global aviation hub. The airport will handle up to 110 million passengers annually, boosting trade, tourism, and intra-African travel. The project includes two runways in phase one with capacity for 60 million passengers, expanding to four runways and 270 aircraft capacity at full scale. The terminal is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and targets LEED Gold certification with sustainable features. The airport will be linked to Addis Ababa and Bole Airport via a high-speed rail system and is expected to create around 80,000 jobs. |
