Description | Bishoftu International Airport is a mega-airport project in Ethiopia designed to become one of the largest airports in the world with a capacity of 110 million passengers per year. The project involves an investment of $12.7 billion and aims to position Ethiopia as a regional leader in aviation and a global gateway connecting Africa to the world. The airport features an innovative X-shaped design inspired by the African Rift Valley, with sustainability features such as LEED Gold certification, natural ventilation, solar panels, rainwater collection, and landscaping with drought-resistant native plants. The project will create 80,000 jobs and includes four runways and parking for 270 aircraft. |
