Black Hawk Bridge Replacement Project

The Iowa Department of Transportation is replacing the historic Black Hawk Bridge with a new structure that doubles the width to 40 feet, adds proper shoulders, and installs a smooth concrete deck to improve safety and driving conditions. The project also widens the navigation channel for more efficient barge traffic passage along the Mississippi River. Digital twin technology is used to simulate construction, identify design conflicts, and optimize workflows, resulting in cost savings and schedule acceleration.
