Description | The Black Hollow Sun solar project is Northern Colorado's largest solar array, providing renewable energy to Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park, and Longmont. The project is part of Platte River Power Authority's goal to reach 100% noncarbon energy production. The first phase delivers 150 megawatts and is operational, while the second phase will deliver 107 megawatts and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The total capacity will be 257 megawatts, powering more than 73,000 homes and covering about 20% of PRPA's energy load. |
