Description | The Blackwater CSO Tunnel project involves the construction of a 4,744-foot underground tunnel about 100 feet below Blackwater Creek. The tunnel is designed to capture and redirect excess sewage and stormwater before it can spill into local waterways. Excavation was completed in July 2026, and crews will begin lining the tunnel interior, which will store up to 4.7 million gallons of excess wastewater/stormwater during heavy rainfall. Above-ground construction includes a diversion structure at the CSO 52 site and a pump station at the 7th Street construction site. The full project is expected to be completed in summer 2027. |
