Blade Weekday Commuter Flights Pilot Program

Blade Urban Air Mobility, a division of Joby Aviation, announced a pilot program to provide commuter flights connecting Manhattan and Westchester County Airport. The program aims to serve residents of New York City suburbs including Greenwich, Scarsdale, Rye, and Bedford, reducing rush hour commutes from over an hour and a half to twelve minutes. Daily weekday flights are scheduled to begin Monday, December 1, with morning and evening departures from Westchester. The service will initially use helicopters, transitioning to Joby’s quiet, zero-emission aircraft following FAA certification of Joby’s electric air taxi. The pilot program is designed to explore commuter demand, operational efficiency, and the integration of electric aircraft into urban air mobility services.
