Description

Description

The project will rehabilitate the historic town square in downtown Blairsville. This project intends to improve pedestrian safety, accessibility and mobility by implementing Context Sensitive Design solutions. It will add pedestrian safety elements and ADA compliant amenities such as crosswalks, buffers, landscaped islands, lane delineations, sidewalks and handicap ramps. The project also aims at improving the economic development of the City by creating a plaza-like atmosphere that encourages pedestrians and shoppers to visit the downtown square. The project will introduce hardscape and landscape items to increase the appeal of downtown, providing a better natural look. Pedestrian amenities will include planters, trees, benches, and trash receptacles to make the area more aesthetically appealing for visitors and residents. Sidewalks will be a minimum of eight feet wide from back of curb to building façade. Marked pedestrian crossings to the historic court house will be introduced.
