Description

Octopus Australia, part of Britain’s Octopus Group, has secured a grid-connection approval for its Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery in New South Wales, which will host 300 MW of power-generating capacity and 243 MW/486 MWh of co-located storage. The approval, known as Generator Performance Standards (GPS), was granted by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Transgrid. It allows the DC-coupled project to proceed towards its final development phase, including the completion of key commercial negotiations. The AUD-850-million (USD 547.9m/EUR 486.5m) project is located 32 kilometres north-east of Canberra. Construction works are set to start in the third quarter of 2025. Once switched on, the site will be capable of powering up to 120,000 local homes and businesses. Blind Creek follows Octopus Australia’s first DC-coupled project, the Fulham Solar Farm and Battery, which entered into construction in April.
