BLM Utah Youth Wilderness Monitoring Pilot Project

The pilot project is expected to provide young Americans with public land management experiences and expand the BLM Utahs long-term capacity to monitor Wilderness resource values on the public lands. BLM Utah is seeking a partner that will provide qualified teams of diverse college students or recent graduates with the opportunity to assist a federal land management agency with its Wilderness monitoring responsibilities. Partnered monitoring efforts will initially begin in the BLMs Cedar City and Salt Lake Field Offices, but will be expanded to other BLM Utah field offices as the monitoring program develops. In addition to time commitments during initial training and orientation efforts, the goal of the pilot project is for each team to eventually monitor three Wilderness or Wilderness Study Area per month in accordance with established monitoring protocols.
