Blockchain technology for European studies

Blockchain technology has attracted significant attention in recent years, and blockchain-enabled applications have been adopted in various industries, including finance, supply chain, health care and public administration. European policymakers actively work on blockchain solutions to support multi-stakeholder blockchain initiatives that bring together industry, startups, governments, international organizations, and civil society. Blockchain-related studies could focus on the transformative potential of the technology, especially in social and economic systems, and the leading role of the EU concerning cutting-edge research, innovation and knowledge creation. Therefore, it is evident that, despite its technical-oriented features, blockchain technology should form part of any EU studies curriculum. EUROPEBLOCK is an innovative module focusing on the disruptive potential of blockchain technology in EU studies focusing on three context-specific domains a) supply chain and operations management, b) health care management and c) public sector administration. The project aims to develop an EU-focused, blockchain-for-EU studies module that will serve the needs of current and prospective EU-focused policymakers and managers. The project aims at the following target groups: (1) senior undergraduates [3rd or 4th year] and postgraduate students, (2) professionals with a keen interest in disruptive technologies adoption at an EU level and relevant EU policies, (3) other members of the general public with interest in acquiring substantial knowledge of the EU policies on cutting edge technologies and (4) the media. EUROPEBLOCK is expected to have a multidimensional and long-lasting impact in several domains and across various stakeholders like improving organizational capacities, enhancing the curricula offered, especially for EU-related studies and fostering dialogue among a wide range of social and political stakeholders.
