Bloor Yonge Capacity Improvement Project

The project includes the rehabilitation and expansion of the Bloor-Yonge Subway Station in Toronto, Ontario. Once complete, the project will enable reliable, safe and comfortable levels of service by addressing existing capacity and accessibility constraints at the station, and will also future-proof the station to meet transit demand that will serve regional growth and development in the coming decades. The work will involve: • Construction of a second platform on the existing Line 2 eastbound platform; • Renovations to convert the existing center platform on Line 2 to westbound only use; • Expansion of the Line 1 northbound and southbound platforms; • 4 New Subway Ventilation System (SVS) fan plants; • Renovation of 1 existing SVS fan plant; • Construction of a new electrical substation; • New vertical circulation elements: elevators, escalators and stairs; • Reconfiguration of the main station entrance and fare line; • Construction of a new, secondary accessible entrance on Bloor Street; • Sewer works and the demolition of existing buildings surrounding the station, • fare collection, track and signals, artwork, communication, signage and wayfinding, and other site works; and • utility works. The project will result in improved capacity of public transit infrastructure, improved quality and/or safety of existing or future transit systems, and improved access to the public transit system in Toronto, Ontario.
