BlueAlp Diaper Plastic Chemical Recycling Plant

BlueAlp, Borouge International, and Belgian diaper producer Woosh have demonstrated a commercial-scale route to recycle plastics from used baby diapers into pyrolysis oil for new polymer production. The project combines Woosh's diaper collection and separation system with BlueAlp's chemical recycling technology and Borouge International's polyolefin expertise. The pre-processed material was recycled at BlueAlp's 20,000 tonnes/year chemical recycling plant in Oostende, Belgium, one of the only operating pyrolysis plants in Europe. The resulting pyrolysis oil was processed by Borouge International into new plastics and sold as a circular product. Woosh plans to expand its diaper collection and recycling operations into France and the Netherlands.
