In June 1994, Hopewell Humen Development Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hopewell Holdings, signed a cooperative joint-venture contract with the Dongguan and Panyu municipalities The bridge is a 4.6-km dual three-lane suspension bridge linking major cities on each side of the Pearl River and is connected to the GSZ-East Superhighway (also a Hopewell project). The joint venture also involves construction of 11.16 km of approach roads in Guangdong Province for the construction and operation of the Boca Tigris Bridge. Hopewell Holdings has a 10% equity share in the joint venture, and a 6.7% profit share. Hopewell contributed Rmb 27.39 million (US$ 3.2 million) in equity, and Rmb 246.51 million (US$ 28.3 million) as a shareholder loan. The total project costs were Rmb 3,593 million (US$ 413 million). The joint venture period is for construction plus thirty years. The bridge opened for trial operations in May 1997. Toll rates require approval from the Guangdong Provincial Price Bureau, and in 1997 ranged from Rmb 5 to Rmb 180 depending on the type of vehicle. None None
