Description

Description

The project involves the construction of a greenfield deep-water port at Boegoebaai as well as rail infrastructure linking the port to mines in the province in the Northern Cape, South Africa. The upcoming port and railway networks hold vital significance as they cater to the country's planned Boegoebaai hydrogen production hub. With a focus on the Northern Cape province, the port will play a crucial role in facilitating the export of manganese ore from mines, addressing challenges posed by elevated transportation expenses and limited capacity along existing export routes. The Boegoebaai port, situated on untouched land, is designed to manage up to 17 million tons of dry bulk goods annually, encompassing containers, break-bulk commodities, diesel fuel, and hydrogen. Presently, the province relies on overland transportation to export its goods through ports in other provinces, leading to supply chain bottlenecks and elevated transport costs.
