Description

The government of Colombia, under the national concessions unit Instituto Nacional de Concesiones (Inco), awarded a 12-year greenfield road project to Concesion Autopista Bogota-Girardot. The project includes construction and operation of a 126-km highway in addition to the construction and operation of a 4.2 km tunnel in the Nariz del Diablo sector. The highway will stretch from Soacha to El Paso. Construction was expected to start in 2005 and conclude in 2009; construction began six-months ahead of schedule in late 2004. The contract was signed in Febraury 2004. Financial closure was achieved in November 2005. The consortium Consorcio Promesa de Sociedad Future Concesion Autopista Bogota-Giradot submitted the winning bid and was later awarded the contract. The consortium included the firms NMV, Gas Capital, Alvarez y Collins, and Vergel y Castellanos. The total project investment US$242 million of which the government agreed to contributed with US$27.8 million. The project was funded with two bond issues and syndicated debt. Operations commenced in April 2014.
