Description | The Bogota Power Project will provide for an expansion of the hydro developments carried out by the Empresa de Energia Electrica de Bogota (SEEB) in the reach of the Bogota River. In addition, the project provides for installation of a relatively small amount of thermal capacity which is necessary to provide a reasonable hydro-thermal balance to the system. The project consists of: (a) the addition of a fourth 18 MW unit to the existing Laguneta hydro plant on the Bogota River; (b) the construction of an earthfill dam and regulating reservoir on the Siecha River; (c) the construction of a new 66 MW hydro station on the Bogota River; (d) the installation of a 33 MW thermal plant near Cipaquir; (e) the improvements and expansion of SEEB's transmission and distribution system; and (f) engineering and investigation for further hydroelectric expansion. |
