Bong Bridge Rehabilitation Project

The project involves painting spot locations of the existing steel arch structure of the center span, making concrete surface repairs at spot locations of the two piers supporting the center steel arch, removing and replacing the three rubber strip seals of the center tied arch, replacing street lighting on the Minnesota half and Wisconsin approach, applying a concrete sealer to the entire deck including Minnesota ramps, and placing new pavement markings on the entire bridge, Minnesota ramps, and Wisconsin approach. During construction, US 2 will remain open to at least one lane of through traffic in each direction. The Minnesota side ramps will be closed at various times for lighting installation, concrete sealer application, and painting. The sidewalk across the bridge is expected to be closed for about two to three weeks. Construction is expected to complete by early December.
