Description | Santa Barbara County is planning a major construction project to completely overhaul Bonita School Road, a busy roadway linking northern Santa Barbara County to South San Luis Obispo County near Nipomo. The project includes replacing a small 300-foot bridge and a third-of-a-mile stretch through the Santa Maria Riverbed with a new nearly half-mile long bridge that will span the entire channel and avoid flooding during heavy storms. The new roadway will also feature improved conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists, including a connection to a future multi-use path along the levee connecting Guadalupe and Santa Maria. |
