Description | The Bonita School Road Bridge Replacement Project proposes to remove approximately 2000' of embankment fill and existing 300' of railroad flatcar bridge with a new 2350' long precast concrete girder structure that will span across the entire channel. This proposed project will accommodate existing and future pedestrian and bicycle traffic, including a future planned multipurpose levee pathway to serve as a connection between the City of Santa Maria and the City of Guadalupe. The project would significantly reduce the potential for Bonita School Road closures during rain events while additionally serving as a reliable backup route to US 101. This is a coordinated effort with multiple agencies including Santa Barbara County Public Works, Santa Barbara County Flood Control District, San Luis Obispo County Public Works, Caltrans, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2024. A public meeting to discuss the project took place on Thursday, September 29th, at at 6:30pm at Bonita Elementary School, 2715 West Main Street, Santa Maria, CA 93458 |
