Description | A 20-acre property in the Buckley area of Bonney Lake is planned to be developed into a major sports complex featuring a covered pickleball pavilion with 10 courts, two grass fields for soccer or lacrosse, and an educational trail linking to the Foothills Trail. The complex will be free for public use and is a public-private partnership between the City of Bonney Lake and the Mt. Rainier Futbol Club. The project is funded by $2.7 million in grants for the pickleball courts, with the Mt. Rainier Futbol Club covering the land purchase cost. Construction of the pickleball courts is expected to start after engineering, design, and permitting, with an estimated opening between fall 2026 and spring 2027, followed by the grass fields and trailhead development. |
