Bons Ventos Geradora de Energia S.A. was granted the 30-year authorization to build a wind park in the state of Ceara by Aneel in January 2008. The initial authorization was granted to Servtec Energia in 2003, but this authorization was transferred to Bons Ventos Geradora de Energia in 2008. The project company was established as an association of Grupo Servtec and the pension funds Grupo Ligna and FIP Brasil Energia. The wind park includes four generating facilities: Taiba Albatroz (15 MW); Enacel (31,50 MW); Canoa Quebrada (57 MW) and Bons Ventos (50 MW). Though the first facility (Taiba Albatroz) commenced operations in November 2008, financial closure for the project was only reached in October 2009, when BNDES state-owned bank approved a US$ 129.2 million (BRL 258.5 million) loan to the project company. The total investment in the four facilities was estimated at US$ 377.2 million (BRL 754.4 million). The project company has power purchase agreements arranged with the state-owned company Eletrobras for 20 years through the Brazilian Federal program PROINFA (incentive program for alternative power generating companies). In February 2010, the second facility (Bons Ventos) commenced operations and, in March 2010, all the facilities were operational.
