The BookPlant project is an energy factory powered by the force of literature and the flow of progressive ideas. It’s also a plantation. It will plant 14 literary seeds from across Europe into Balkan soil, where they will bloom for readers in Serbo-Croat-speaking communities, both in the region and around the globe, reanimating deep roots that connect us. It will plant ideas on the preservation of nature, the rejuvenation of urban areas, and the joy of connecting with our environment. You might call it the Greening of Creative Europe or simply a passion for the planet and literature. It will nurture the idea that one of nature’s most precious resources is people—those who should be connected, who strive to better understand each other, protect the most vulnerable among us, support the young, and share their knowledge and passion for art and nature. These plants will be watered with dynamic and versatile promotional campaigns, fertilized with innovative digital technologies, and their beauty showcased with an understanding and appreciation of their diverse audience. Project priorities are the linguistic and cultural diversity. It is ensured by including works from 12 EU countries, spanning Europe from west (Portugal, Spain) to east (Romania, Ukraine), from north (Norway, Sweden, Ireland) to south (Bulgaria, Italy), while also representing Central Europe (Czechia, Hungary, and Germany). The selection’s diversity is reinforced with a variety of themes and literary styles, and while it consists entirely of novels, it encompasses versatile fiction genres. We will guarantee both the excellence of translations and the quality of publications, both printed and eBooks. The selection’s transnational circulation will be supported by our extensive distribution network in the Western Balkans and innovative strategies to reach the large ex-Yugoslav diaspora. Authors' visits to Serbia will further enhance international circulation. We in Blum like to say: Let’s bloom together.
