Description
Description | Since 2007 internationalisation has been a strategic educational goal for Escola Pia Nostra Senyora. To undertake this challenge and make it real, we have always had Europe as our keyword, and it is precisely in Europe where we have based most of our initiatives to help our students & staff experience it. Throughout the years we have implemented projects and traveled to European schools to carry them out. We have welcomed groups to share our little part of Europe, and have always encouraged our staff to broaden their educational mindset by sharing and learning from European colleagues. The benefits for our institution as a whole and for each and every participant have been invaluable. Yet, when we found out about the EPAS programme and now the JM Initiative, we realized our commitment with Europe could be taken a step further. We think it’s time to make learning about the EU a permanent academic asset in our school. Thus, we would like to set the following objectives, to be implemented thanks to the JM Initiative: 1.Consolidating the use of the existing learning materials on Europe by transforming them into a 40-hour subject about Europe for our year-9 students. The subject contents will be based on EU history, values, institutions, citizenship, opportunities,... in a hands-on gamified approach, so that our students can develop a European sense of belonging and become well-informed citizens. 2.Encouraging teachers both from Secondary Education and VET to set up Europe-related activities in their subjects, thus linking all academic fields to Europe, so that our community sees the relevance of Europe in all aspects of their life. 3.Organizing a yearly study trip for junior ambassadors, so that they discover the EU institutions and encourage commitment and voting in EU elections. 4.Setting up a weekly meeting for teachers to work on the implementation of the JM initiative, so as to coordinate the work, make & share materials and add other European activities. |
