Description

Description

The Border and Regional Studies Institute (BARI) project is a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence initiative aimed at advancing research, policy engagement, and education in the field of cross-border cooperation (CBC) and border management. Hosted by the University of Opole, the project addresses key EU priorities related to regional integration, resilience, and multilateral collaboration in border regions. Through a combination of research, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge dissemination, BARI seeks to enhance academic excellence in EU studies, provide policy-relevant insights, and foster public awareness of CBC’s significance. The project’s core objectives include strengthening the resilience of cross-border cooperation structures, generating policy recommendations for regional development, and increasing public engagement in CBC through educational initiatives. A multidisciplinary approach will be employed, integrating research activities, policy dialogues, and community outreach efforts. Key outcomes include the development of a comprehensive typology of resilience strategies for border regions, the creation of a public database, and the organization of academic courses, workshops, and conferences. BARI’s impact extends to multiple stakeholders, including students, policymakers, civil society organizations, and border communities. By bridging academic research with practical policymaking, the project aims to contribute to EU cohesion policy, enhance regional cooperation frameworks, and strengthen the visibility of cross-border initiatives. Sustainability is ensured through institutional integration, strategic partnerships, and external funding opportunities, positioning BARI as a leading hub for border and regional studies in Europe.
