BOTANICAL BIOPESTICIDES OF MACARONESIA: POPULAR RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE

The MACBIOPEST project brings together the cultural, natural and scientific-technical heritage of the Macaronesian region, in order to solve one of the most pressing problems in our society: obtain more effective and safe phytosanitary agents, both from a health and ecological point of view, that contribute to sustainable growth. On the one hand, the consolidation of the Banco del Saber, which will be expanded with information on the rest of the archipelagos of the Macaronesian region, will allow to safeguard the Cultural Heritage. On the other hand, this information will be an unparalleled starting point for the selection of plants and microalgae under study, using environmentally friendly techniques. Improving the activity, specificity and bioavailability of extracts for the treatment of the main pests affecting crops will be a priority objective for their application and subsequent marketing.
