Description | Th project entails the construction of 0.6MW biogas power plant in Botos, Serbia. The sponsors are Mladost doo Botos, an agricultural co-operative in Botos, Zrenjanin, and Bioelektra doo Botos. ,Beet pulp and sugar beet waste, supplemented with corn silage, are digested. The heat is used to heat up the digester while the electricity is fed into the national grid. The project, worth €2.5 million, was financed with a €1.2 million credit line from Erste Bank, alongside a €688,000 loan from the government of the Netherlands. The project was also helped with US$275,000 as a part of project ‘Reducing Barriers to Accelerate Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia’, financed by the Global Environmental Fund and delivered by United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy.
