Through this project, IFC will provide Advisory Services and Technical Assistance to the Botswana Ministry of Finance and other key stakeholders to strengthen the secured lending ecosystem on movable asset-based lending market development and operations with the implementation of the Movable Property Security Interest Registry, (MPSI). It will build the capacity of key stakeholders in the issuance of credit facilities in utilizing the new MPSI Act and Registry. The availability of a collateral registry to record security interests in movable assets will help lenders to accept movable assets that micro, small & medium enterprises typically own such as accounts receivable, stock & inventory and Intellectual Property Rights as security for loans and to make better credit decisions for underserved Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise ("MSME") segments.
