Description | The Bougouni lithium project is a lithium ore processing facility located approximately 180 kilometers south of Bamako, Mali. It features a Stage 1 Dense Media Separation facility processing 1,000,000 tonnes of lithium ore annually to produce 125,000 tonnes of battery-grade spodumene concentrate at 5.5% Li₂O. The project was constructed rapidly from mid-2024 to February 2025 and has produced over 45,000 tonnes of concentrate by November 2025. It employs 650 people, 95% of whom are local Malian nationals, and is strategically positioned with export access through Côte d'Ivoire's Port of San Pedro. The project is owned by a tripartite partnership including the Malian government, Kodal Mining UK, and Hainan Mining (China). |
