Description | The Box Car Wind project involves the construction of around eight to 15 wind turbines in Aetna Township, located in the northeast corner of Pipestone County. Planned by Apex Clean Energy, the project has the potential to generate 1,000 megawatts of energy, enough to power up to 370,000 U.S. homes. The project will stretch from Russell to Slayton and from near Garvin to Ruthton, built in two phases with around 200 wind turbines in total. Turbines will be made by GE with capacities between 3.8 and 4.2 megawatts and heights up to 600 feet. The project will connect to a new transmission line planned by Xcel Energy from Becker to Garvin, expected to reduce curtailment issues. |
