Information Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited [BPCL] has come up with BPCL LPG Pipeline from Kochi to Erode and Salem via Coimbatore with a ticket size of 1507.24 INR Crores. This project in Bulk Material Transportation Pipelines sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The project involves laying, building and, operation of approx. 449 Km LPG Pipeline from Kochi to Erode and Salem via Coimbatore [with supply from Puthuvypeen LPG facility and Kochi refinery]. The project is being executed by KSPPL [Kochi Salem Pipeline Pvt Ltd] which is a JV between BPCL & IOCL with 50-50 participation each. The PNGRB authorization of project was obtained on 26/02/2014 which is now extended up to 28/02/2023 [Kerala portion] and 28/02/2025 [Tamil Nadu portion]. The pipeline will help decongest roads by taking away many bullet gas tankers [300/day approx.] off the national highway between Kochi and the northern- eastern destinations. The gas pipeline will link the bottling plants at Udayamperoor, Palakkad and two plants at Coimbatore and Erode, operated both by BPCL and IOC. This will help the transportation of LPG by road to these bottling plants. Physical Progress reported is for Kerala Portion.
