The BR-040/DF/GO/MG concession project was qualified at the 12th Meeting of the PPI Council through Resolution No. 105, of 01/10/2020, converted into Decree No. 10,248, of 02/18/2020. Subsequently, during the feasibility studies for the highway, the decision was made to subdivide the project into 2 sections to be granted separately: BR-040 from Belo Horizonte/MG to Cristalina/GO, with a length of 594 km, called Rota dos Cristais; BR-040 from Cristalina/GO to the Federal District, to be granted together with the section of BR-153/060 between Goiânia/GO and the Federal District, called Rota Pequi. The priority of the project is characterized by the status of the current concession contract, with the incumbent's declared inability to fulfill the obligations originally assumed. The concessionaire Via 040 filed with ANTT a request for amicable termination of the concession contract and consequent adherence to the re-bidding process, under the terms of Law 13,448, of 2017. With the execution of the project, the aim is to guarantee the continuity of operational services and recovery, maintenance, monitoring, capacity expansion and improvements on the 594 km of highway between Cristalina/GO and Belo Horizonte, with a view to increasing the level of service of the highway for the benefit of the population. The project was qualified in the PPI by Decree No. 10,248 of 02/18/2020. On 11/20/2020, the Addendum of adhesion to the concession return process was signed with ANTT, followed by its re-tendering. CPPI resolution nº 210/2021 of 12/16/2021 approved the extension of the re-bidding period by 18 months. The concession of the section of the BR-040 highway between Belo Horizonte and Juiz de Fora, which is currently also managed by Via 040, is included in the concession project for the BR 040/495/MG/RJ highway, together with the interconnection section from Juiz de Fora to Rio de Janeiro (currently operated by Concer).
