BRL-135 road concession project in Brazil entails include: construction of new lanes (second and third in some areas); new hard shoulders; new contours; restoration and paving of the existent road; construction of overpasses for pedestrians ; construction of feed-in roads; installation of bus stops. Brazilian roads concessionaire EcoRodovias is the sponsor of the project. Brazilian development bank BNDES is the sole MLA on the highways project with a R1 billion ($267 million) loan. EcoRodovias in February 2018 won the 30-year contracts to operate stretches of the roads – BR-135, MG-231 and LMG-754 – totalling 363.95km of roads. The concessionaire in June (2018) signed a contract with the Minas Gerais state secretariat for transport and public works (SETOP) to manage the roads. BR-135 is a key corridor for long-distance transport in Brazil, a country heavily dependent on roads for the transport of passengers and goods.
